At Essential Therapies, we do things a little differently.
We believe every appointment deserves the time, care, and attention it needs.
That's why we see a limited number of clients each day and allow generous time between sessions. Unhurried, intentional, and entirely focused on you.

Do You Have Tech Neck?
Tech neck, forward head posture, frontal cross, there are many names for this postural imbalance, but I can honestly say that in over a decade of practicing bodywork and having had my hands on literally thousands of bodies,
'tech neck' is by far the most common complaint I see in my clinical practice.
We now find ourselves fully immersed in the age of information, technology and screen-time are an inescapable aspect of most of our daily lives.
Bodywork and self-care are the antidote!
I'll loosen your tight muscles and show you how to strengthen the weak, over stretched muscles that you need to regain good posture.
You'll also be given home care advice and exercises, helping you to reverse symptoms and prevent future problems.

Have You Tried
Dry Cupping?
The ancient technique of dry cupping is derived from traditional Chinese and Egyptian medicine. Today Olympic athletes swear by it, as well as celebrities who are often 'papped' with the tell tale marks that a cupping session can leave. Cupping pulls blood into a region to stimulate healing and it is highly effective at stretching tight fascia and relieving muscular tension.

All About
Myofascial Release (MFR)
& Unwinding
At Essential Therapies, our uniqueness lies in the depth of training our bodyworkers bring to their practice.
Kaya and Nathalie have both completed advanced-level training in myofascial release, giving them a profound understanding of the mind-body connection. We recognise that the body holds emotional as well as physical experiences, and we work safely and skilfully to support your system in self-correcting and releasing stored tension and trauma through myofascial unwinding.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a matrix of connective tissue that weaves throughout the entire body, It surrounds and envelops every muscle fibre, bone, nerve, and organ. It's one of the most newly discovered and fascinating systems of the body - and we are quickly learning that it plays a huge role in both our physical and emotional health.

What is myofascial release?
Myofascial release is a form of bodywork that uses light, sustained pressure and gentle holds in order to relieve tension in the connective tissue (fascia) We don't isolate or compartmentalise body parts or muscles but rather treat you as a whole interconnected system. We feel into your fascial system and follow your body's release.

What is myofascial unwinding?
Myofascial unwinding is an intuitive process in which the client undergoes a series of spontaneous movements known as pandiculation; a process of contraction, lengthening and releasing.
As therapists we encourage you, through interoception, (feeling into your body), to allow whatever movement, sounds, or feelings that may arise. These movements may be tiny micro-adjustments, barely noticeable to the observing eye or larger stretches tremors or shaking.

What to expect:
MFR like massage, has a cumulative effect, and progress is made through successive treatments.
Most people take baby steps when they receive MFR treatments because their body needs to learn how to respond.
Once they are familiar with the feeling that comes with a release, the releases might then get bigger.
Typically, people respond a little more with each succeeding treatment.
Following treatment clients will often report a feeling of spaciousness and lightness, both physically and emotionally.

Where appropriate we incorporate MFR into our restorative massage and bodywork treatments. Book Here
Aromatherapy
We use a selection of aromatherapy oils and herbal infusions in all of our massage & bodywork treatments unless otherwise requested. These beautiful oils are certified organic by the soil association and are made in small batches in the UK. Essential oils are aromatic and highly concentrated substances extracted from parts of trees, plants, flowers and fruit. Aromatherapy is not new - evidence of the use of aromatic oils dates back almost 3,000 years BC with the ancient Egyptians making use of their medicinal, cosmetic and spiritual benefits.
